i went to defcon 17. it was my first defcon. i went into the CTF and watched but had no idea what to look for or how to enjoy watching the tournament. i tried looking over a few shoulders but i felt completely unwelcomed.

since then i've learned a lot about hacking and i'm now looking into what it takes to play in CTF at the next defcon. it was at that time i went to your website ddtek.biz. man, it was lame yo. if you guys are really running ctf at defcon i'm just gonna avoid it altogether. there's no rules listed, theres no tips, theres no explanation of wtf ctf or binjitsu means or how its played or how to practice or training scenarios. theres no organization or effort whatsoever on your part to help promote this or to explain anything! if your site was down i would be equally informed of what ctf is all about... why do you guys fail at this? you list the dc17 winners. ok great thanks for the news that's well over 6 months old *yawn* you give me links to a 7 gigs of packet captures. what am i supposed to do with that? analyze it to learn how the winners won? i dont see the value in the .caps and there is no explanation of why you think its important. and i have no idea what binaries you put in there either. binaries to what? why dont you explain just 1 thing ever??? the first two questions on your faq page is about skewlofroot... are you serious that is the top question people ask you??? no clue who he is...

Those of you that stayed around for the awards ceremony know that sk3wlofr00t had a slight conflict of interest making their contrived score irrelevant.

DEFCON CTF QUALIFIER ANNOUNCED

Defense Diutinus Technologies Corp (ddtek) is pleased to announce the round of qualification for DEFON 17 CTF.

The competition will be held on 5-7 June - without a stop, participants can be located everywhere. All are to play, but only the 9 best groups will be invited to join us in Las Vegas for the annual DEFCON ninja square off. We also intend to honour the code of the former CTF host and automatically qualify last years champion, the sk3wl of r00t (although we sincerely hope them to participate in qualifications).

The qualification round will be in the style of game board, but answers need not be in the form of a question. Categories will require teams to demonstrate the superiority of hacking into a vast relm of security.

You must be registered for participate.
